Where these figures come from
Andhra Pradesh Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments Act 1987, First Schedule, unchanged since the state was divided.
Every compliance source puts Andhra Pradesh on the same table as Telangana, but the state portal would not serve its own schedule page when we checked, so this is not confirmed from a primary source.
Does it reduce your income tax?
Only in the old regime. Professional tax is deductible from salary under section 19(1) of the Income-tax Act, 2025, and section 202(2) removes that deduction for anyone taxed under the new regime.
