About InHand
InHand is a free, private CTC to in-hand salary calculator for India, with rates checked against official sources for FY 2026-27.
InHand answers one question well: of the CTC on your offer letter, how much actually reaches your bank account each month?
Why another salary calculator
Most CTC calculators get the easy part right and quietly skip the parts that change the answer:
- Both tax regimes, side by side. You see the new and old regime results together, with the difference, rather than one assumed regime.
- The Labour Code wage rule, read correctly. Since November 2025, if your allowances come to more than half your pay, the excess counts as wages for PF, gratuity and ESI. Contrary to what is widely written, there is no rule forcing Basic to be half of CTC. We apply the actual rule and tell you when it changed your numbers.
- Marginal relief done properly. Tax just above ₹12 lakh, ₹50 lakh and higher thresholds is capped the way the law requires: crossing a threshold costs at most the income above it, plus the 4% cess. Many calculators skip the cap entirely.
- Professional tax by state, with the February rule. Maharashtra and Karnataka charge ₹300 in February. Where we have not verified a state's slabs, we say so instead of guessing.
How we keep it accurate
Every statutory rate is checked against the source that sets it: the Income-tax Act, 2025, the Finance Act 2026, the Income-tax Rules 2026, Ministry of Labour and ESIC notifications, and the state professional tax Acts. Where we could not reach an official source, we say so rather than presenting a figure as settled. The footer shows when the rates were last checked, and the calculation code is covered by tests built from hand-worked examples. The full method, including what we could not verify, is on the How it works page.
Who builds it
InHand is built and maintained by one independent developer with the help of AI coding tools. Every figure is traced to the law or notification that sets it. It has no sponsors, no sign-up and no paywall.
Keep it free
If InHand saved you a spreadsheet or a conversation with payroll, you can chip in. It pays for the domain and the time it takes to re-check every rate when the rules change.
